HOUSE SPECIALTIES

Our soba (buckwheat) noodles served on a bamboo sieve with grated yam has been a staple on our menu since we opened in 1926. Our noodles are made from Hokkaido buckwheat flour ground with a mortar and were once ordered by a member of the band SPEED.

Please dip your soba in the accompanying dipping sauce. The grated yam mixes perfectly with the noodles. Please top your soba with fresh wasabi to taste.

Plenty of autumn eggplant, beech-grown shimeji, shiitake and maitake mushrooms cooked tempura-style (battered and deep-fried). The dipping sauce for the soba (buckwheat) noodles served on a bamboo sieve has been blended with North Californian walnuts to make for a mellow broth.

Only available in autumn. Regular dipping sauce for the soba also comes with the mellow walnut broth and mushroom tempura so eat with either as you like.

A basic, popular dish with men and women, young and old, of any nationality. Soba (buckwheat) noodles served on a bamboo sieve with freshly deep-fried eggplant, sweet potato, prawn and capsicum tempura.

The accompanying fresh wasabi is sourced from the Ome area. Please try placing it on top of your soba noodles before dipping your noodles in the sauce to eat (as oppose to mixing the wasabi into the dipping sauce).

 About Us / Welcome Message

Takezo Sato established our restaurant in 1926 here at the base of Mt Takao. Our restaurant is for the protection of the greatest possession of all - our customers' health, and our buckwheat flour and bonito flakes are all sourced within Japan. We offer menu items created around the four seasons as well as original creations. We may not be able to accommodate for customers with food allergies. Please visit us when you come to Mt Takao. Tomomi Sato, Manager
